Kefallonia Greece May 2001
Never mind Captain Corellis mandolin, what about Captain Marts bikes?
About the biggest you can hire, a Yamaha Trailway
200cc 4 stroke single, drum brakes all round, so doesn't stop!
Huge "knobblies" though, 180 section on the rear!
And for the 2nd week, a KYMCO 125 (Korean I think)
thinner "knobblies" and a disc front brake, so better off road?
Nope, "It's about the engine Stavros, it wants one!
Much respect to all the learners having to cope on 125's
Some general piccies of the Island and the roads
From left to right, Aghia Efymia, where Captain Corelli was filmed,2 views of the inland road between Poros and Sami, and the village ofAghios Nicolaos with a superb track in the background.
The famous Myrtos beach with the road down to it.
When you stop and look over the cliff to see it.....
yes it is real!
It's all Greek to me!
(Translated it means "fishing is forbidden")
Just chips for tea then!
This was about the 10th time I've been biking in Greece, thoroughly recommended, but check out the dodgy insurance cover, full means nothing usually, and wear a helmet and strong sunglasses, bugs as big as conkers don't half hurt at 60 mph!!
